This Friday will be ice cream day! Bring in $1 and get a delicious Ice Cream Sandwich for recess.

Curriculum night will take place Thursday night. This year, the elementary section will take place from 6:00-6:45pm. The primary section will take place from 7:00-7:45pm. This a great opportunity to meet your students teacher and gain some understanding of the school and classroom routines.

LIFT-NL is offering a FREE Family Literacy Night Thursday, September 26 from 6-8:30 pm.  During our Family Literacy Night, families will gather to listen to Don Sawyer, author of The Lunchbag Chronicles as well as engage in literacy-rich activities.  Families will also hear from local authors such as Lori Doody, Susan Chalker-Browne and Gina Noordhof. There will also be loot bags for each child with a little snack as well as a book and other take aways. We will be holding weekly Recycling Blitz Fridays starting on September 20th. We will be accepting donations during Friday morning drop off in the Kiss and Ride Lane and in the main entrance near the office for kindergarten parents and bus students. We are accepting all plastic drink bottles, tetra packs, and aluminum cans only. Bus students are only permitted to bring a small, clean, tightly closed bag of recyclables on the bus. Children will receive a way to go ticket for their donation. If dropping off at school is not convenient for you, drop off may be made at any of the following Evergreen Recycling Depots using the MQP recycling account 7537950 at any time: Regatta Plaza - 92 Elizabeth Ave 858-860 Torbay Rd. 79 Blackmarsh Rd. Corner of Cowan Ave & Waterford Bridge Road Also for those of you who do not use recyclable bottles or containers we would gladly accept a donation to the school in lieu of recycling. In addition, we are looking for volunteers

The next time someone tells you to "go fly a kite" take it to heart and head to Bowring Park this weekend. You could just toss a kite into the air and fly it, or perhaps use it as an excuse to study Bernoulli's principle in action. Check the link below for more information. PAL Kite Festival

The first ice cream day of the year is happening this Friday! Differing from previous years, there will be 2 ice cream days held each month, except December and June. On Ice Cream Day, bring $1.00 and you will get a tasty treat at recess. This month, the delicious treat will be a fudgestick! How chocolaty!

Just a reminder for those hungry students, and lunch planning parents, Cafeteria Service will start on Sept. 9th, so make sure you bring your lunch for the rest of this week.
