Report Cards Tomorrow, and Early Dismissal Thursday

Report Cards will be distribtued tomorrow after school. If you are unable to receive the report for whatever reason, please contact the school. Also, parent teacher interviews take place on Thursday, from 11am-7pm. As a result, there will be an early dismissal, and school will end for the day at 10:50am. 

The Scholastic Book Fair Starts Monday!

The Scholastic Book Fair will take place next week at MQP! Classroom teachers have already booked a time to come visit, and the book fair will be open to parents until 7pm on November 28th. OPTIS opens Friday Morning

The OPTIS system will open for parents to book interviews starting Friday morning at 8:10am. The system will stay open until Wednesday at 12pm. Breakfast Blitz!

We will be having our first Breakfast Blitz on Monday, November 18th. We will be accepting donations of granola bars (peanut/nut free), yogurt tubes, yogurt drinks, and cheese strings. Monetary donations or gift cards to Sobey's, Dominion, Coleman’s, and Costco will also be graciously accepted. There will be volunteers in the kiss and ride lane and office entrance accepting your donations. Thank you in advance for supporting this program.

National Child Day

Celebrate National Child Day in the City of St. John's with a week of free activities for children and families. On November 20 we are encouraging everyone to wear blue #GoBlue to bring awareness of children's rights around the world. Watch the  #GoBlue  video and sign the petition on the UNICEF website to call on world leaders to acknowledge the rights of every child. Join City of St. John's staff and partners for an afternoon of fun activities including active games, bouncy castles and interactive displays in this MOVE IT event. A limited number of National Child Day t-shirts will be available with a donation to the REAL program. No School Friday

Due to a teacher Professional Learning Day there will be no school on Friday, Nov. 15th. School will resume on Monday, Nov. 18th, which will be Day 2.

Ice Cream Day Thursday

Turkey, BLT, ham and cheese. All types of sandwiches, but not one, or even all of them together, is as tasty as the mighty ICE CREAM SANDWICH! Thankfully this powerful ice cream treat will be available for $1.00 on Thursday (Nov. 14th) at recess time.

OPTIS and Parent-Teacher Interviews

The OPTIS website, used for booking Parent-Teacher interviews is now available for new parent registration.  It will open for general booking of interviews at 8:30am on Nov. 22nd. It will close at noon on Nov. 27th. Parents of students new to the school are advised to register ahead of these dates. If you currently have students attending it is a good idea to make sure that you are still able to access your account. If you have any issues registering as a new user, please contact the school. No School Friday and Monday

Don't forget, there is no school on Friday (Nov. 8th) due to the Mid Fall Break. Also, there is no school on Monday, as all schools in the province are observing Remembrance Day. School will resume on Tuesday, Nov. 12th. It will be Day 5. But wait! There's more! There is also no school on Friday November 15th. Teachers will be taking part in a professional learning day, and there will be no school for students. Classes will resume on Monday, November 18th. It will be Day 2.

Substitute Teacher Information Session at Mary Queen of Peace

There will be a substitute teacher information session at Mary Queen of Peace Elementary School on Wednesday, November 6th at 3:45pm. The session will be held in the library, and interested subsitute teachers are asked to come to the main office door, which can be found in the upper parking lot.

Early Bird Draw Tomorrow Night!

The Early Bird Draw for our school fundraiser takes place tomorrow night, during the school council meeting. The early bird prize is: Early Bird Draw Two tickets to Phantom of the Opera performed at the Arts and Culture Centre on Friday, Nov. 8th and $175 Gift card for a dinner at The Merchant Tavern (To be drawn on Tuesday, Nov. 5th). Thank you to Cox and Palmer for this wonderful donation! Tomorrow during the school day will be your last chance to get tickets!

Chapters Night Tonight!

Mary Queen of Peace will be hosting a musical event this evening at Chapters on Kenmount Road! Our Grade 1 students will be performing, directed by our music teacher Ms. Cumbie. Also, during the event, from 6-8pm, 20% of sales will go to the school. So drop by, listen to some great music, and maybe look for a Christmas gift or too!

November Band Schedule

The November Band Schedule is now out! Just in time too, because it is November 1st. Make sure you check the schedule to find out when you need to take your bassoon to school. There is plenty happening in the month of November, and you wouldn't want to have to carry it home at the same time as books you get at the book fair!
