Used Book and Game Sale Donations

We have had plenty of donations brought to the school during the last week, but have room for lots more! If you cleaned out your closests and basements during Snowmageddon think about donating some old books and games to the sale so they can have a new life with someone else! Donations can be brought to the school all day long tomorrow, or sent in with students. The actual sale will take place on Monday, Feb. 3rd. Items will cost between $1-$3, so you won't need much!

Regular Kindergarten Classes on Friday/No Kinderstart Session

The Kinderstart session scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31 has been canceled. A rescheduled date will be announced. As a result kindergarten classes will proceed as normal on Friday.

Intensive Core French Meeting on Thursday

There is an parent meeting on Thursday evening for parents interested in enrolling students in the Intensive Core French program next year. The meeting is at 6pm in Ms. Burton Snow's classroom, 418, on the 4th floor.

School Reopens Tomorrow! Check for Important Information

Our long winter is...over?! Really, it is just begining, but school is open for all students tomorrow. Several important facts to note. There are currently alternate bus routes for MQP. ALL MQP bus routes have been changed, and these changes will remain in effect until Friday . Check the links below for the alternate route information. Alternate Bus Routes Route 1A Route 2A Route 3A Route 4A Route 5A Route 6A Route 7A Ice Cream Day Tuesday and Friday There will be an ice cream sale Tuesday, with Fudgesticks as the treat. There will be an ice cream sale Friday, with Polar Bars as the treat. Literacy Day Many classes are going ahead with Literacy Day activities. Classroom teachers will be in contact regarding any activities for each room.  No Kinderstart this Friday There will be no Kinderstart session this Friday. No Community Use of Schools until Jan. 27th

Due to the cleanup from the storm that is still ongoing, there will be no community activities held at the school until at least Monday, Jan. 27th. This includes MQP Soccer and they The Red Cross Stay Safe course that was scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25th. There will be a new date announced next week for the stay safe course. If there is a change in this date, there will be another update.

School Closed Until Monday (Jan. 27th)

Due to the effects of the snow and the ensuing clean up, school is closed until Monday, Jan. 27th. Monday will be Day 7. Below are a few pertinent updates regarding events and activities that have been cancelled or altered because of the weather. The ICF parent information session schedule for Thursday, Jan. 23rd has been cancelled. It has been rescheduled for Jan. 30th, at 6pm ICF onlnie registration ends on Jan. 31st The used book sale scheduled for Monday, Jan. 27th will be rescheduled. If you have any books or games to donate please bring them to school next week Ice Cream Day that was scheduled for Friday, Jan. 17th has been canceled for now

School is closed on Jan. 21st due to the ongoing State of Emergency and snow clearing efforts.

School Closed Monday (Jan. 20)

Due to the effects of the recent storm there will be no school on Monday, Jan. 20th. Assuming school is open on Tuesday, it will be Day 3 on the cycle. Stay safe everyone!

Canadian Red Cross Stay Safe Program

Enroll your child (10 - 11 years old and in grades 5 to 6) in the Canadian Red Cross Stay Safe Program taking place at Mary Queen of Peace School on Saturday, January 25 from 9 am - 2:30 pm. The Stay Safe program prepares pre-teens to stay at home alone and how to stay safe when an adult is not present. Topics include * Writing down important information (Names and Phone Numbers of parents, friends, 911) *Staying Safe: Learning to Follow Rules * Being Responsible on My Own * My Daily Routine and Daily Activities * Keeping Busy and Having Fun * Making Good Choices and Decisions * Stranger Danger - Staying Safe at home and outside * Being Prepared for Fun - Proper Equipment and Toy Safety * Checking for Safety around the home, garden and community * Identifying Dangerous and poisons * Dealing with the unknown - visitors, phone calls bad weather * Fire Safety and Prevention * Designing my own home escape plan * Make Healthy Food Choices when I am home alone * Making a heal

School's closed tomorrow (Jan 17)

USED BOOK, GAME and PUZZLE SALE

Mary Queen of Peace and the Literacy Committee are excited to be holding a Used Book, Game and Puzzle sale to raise funds to purchase additional resources and electronics for our school. Our Used Book Sale will take place in the library on Monday, January 27th, where we will be adding Board Games and Puzzles to our sale. We feel board games and puzzles are a valuable part of learning as well as a great family experience. We are asking any students who have gently used children’s books, games and puzzles that they no longer use, to donate them by bringing them to their classroom or drop them off at the office from January 20th to January 24th. All primary and elementary students will be given the opportunity to visit the sale on January 27th with their classes to purchase books and games for themselves, or for others, if they wish. Books will be $1 each and games/puzzles will be $3 or less. Students will be made aware of their scheduled time to visit the sale during the week of

It isn't the time of year to be carrying your German Horn to school when you don't need it. Though it might double as a handy way to shovel if we get much more snow. Anyway, make sure you check the January band schedule so you know when to practice, and when to call home about forgetting your instrument bring your instrument to school. January Band Schedule

Janurary Newsletter

It is time for the first newsletter of 2020! Take a look through to see what events are happening at Mary Queen of Peace this month. Janurary Newsletter Also, a special note about outdoor clothing. We have had lots of snow recently, and that doesn't stop the school from going outside at lunchtime. We ask that children have appropriate clothing for activites outside.

School Closed for the Day (Jan. 6th)

Due to the weather, school will be closed for the entire day. We will open at our regular time on Jan. 7th, which will be day 7 on the cycle. Who knew our first update of 2020 would be snow day!? Be safe everyone.
