Chess Club
Chess Club is on again this year at MQP!
Instructor:We are very fortunate to have Nihad Dervisevic returning again this year as our Chess Instructor. Nihad had been ill so we have a bit of later start this year, but very happy today he is well on the mend and ready to instruct our MQP Chess students!
Registration:
Registration forms are due to be returned to your child’s teacher by
Friday, October 18th, 2019.
Schedule:
Chess Club will begin Tuesday, November 5th.
As in past years, Chess Club will happen during lunchtimes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The decision regarding which day a given grade will attend Chess Club will be communicated after registration. It depends on the numbers registered by each grade. This will ensure the numbers of players in attendance are equal on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Also this year we hope to continue to offering an additional afterschool session each Thursday from 2:15-3:15 pm for those students who have a special interest in Chess, especially in representing MQP at various Chess Tournaments held by Chess NL throughout the year.

Parent Volunteers needed!
In order for Chess Club to proceed we need parent (or grandparent!) volunteers to sign up! It is vital that we have sufficient parent participation to ensure Chess Club continues. You do not need to have any knowledge of Chess to volunteer! There is space on the Registration form to indicate your availability to volunteer. Last year, the average requirement was one lunch hour per month
(11:15am-1215pm). We need parents to chaperone the children in the room so that Nihad can focus on instruction. Any questions on this, please contact Christina Kennedy at ckennedy@nape.ca.
