School Delayed Opening for 2 Hours (Feb. 28)

All schools in metro region will have a 2 hour delayed opening today. For MQP, this means that doors open at 9:50am with classes beginning at 10:10. Buses will begin their runs at 9:30am. Kinderstart will go ahead with the first session from 10:15am-11:15am and the second session from 12-2pm. There will be no cafeteria services today.

Kinderstart Friday Feb. 28th

There will be a kinderstart session on Friday, Feb. 28th. These sessions are only for new students, not parents. As a result of the kinderstart session there will be no regular kindergarten classes. Those students will be back to school on Monday, March 2nd.

Friendship Assembly Wednesday

There will be a friendship assembly on Wednesday, Feb. 26th. It will be hosted by our Gr. 2 classes. They have requested that students wear their favorite colours to the assembly. Gr. K, 3, 5 and 6 will be attending during the morning session. Gr. 1 and 4 plus invited parents will be attending during the afternoon session.

Tuesday is the 100th Day of School!

On Tuesday February 25th we will be celebrating the 100th Day of School at MQP! We are inviting students to represent 100 in any way they choose. It could be a hat or shirt with 100 buttons, pompoms, or sequins, a necklace with 100 beads, 100 elastics in their hair, etc. Students may even dress up as if they were 100 years old! We are looking forward to seeing all of the creative ideas students come up with!

School closed all day (Feb 12)

School will teaming closed all day due to the weather.

Kinderstart Session #1 on Friday. No classes for regular Kindergarten students

We welcome our new kinderstart students and their parents to Mary Queen of Peace on Friday, Feb. 7th! Students will be spending time in the classrooms and parents will have a great presenatation from Julia Mayo, public librarian. As a result of these events, there will be no classes for our regular kindergarten students. We will see them back on school on Monday, which will be day 3 on the cycle.

February Band Schedule

The February band schedule is ready! Take the time to look at it and plan out your month. If there is a certain song you want to play for someone on Feb. 14th, now is the time to plan your practices. No one wants to hear a sad trombone love song! February Band Schedule

Canadian Red Cross Stay Safe Program

Enroll your child (10 - 11 years old and in grades 5 to 6) in the Canadian Red Cross Stay Safe Program taking place at Mary Queen of Peace School on Saturday, February 22 from 9 am - 2:30 pm. The Stay Safe program prepares pre-teens to stay at home alone and how to stay safe when an adult is not present. Topics include * Writing down important information (Names and Phone Numbers of parents, friends, 911) *Staying Safe: Learning to Follow Rules * Being Responsible on My Own * My Daily Routine and Daily Activities * Keeping Busy and Having Fun * Making Good Choices and Decisions * Stranger Danger - Staying Safe at home and outside * Being Prepared for Fun - Proper Equipment and Toy Safety * Checking for Safety around the home, garden and community * Identifying Dangerous and poisons * Dealing with the unknown - visitors, phone calls bad weather * Fire Safety and Prevention * Designing my own home escape plan * Make Healthy Food Choices when I am home alone * Making a healthy Meal plan a
