Here at Mary Queen of Peace we are aware that many students will be using their G Suite accounts to do some sort of work or activities while at home. We also know that students sometimes forget their email address and password. Sometimes they can even forget twice in one day! If you need help resetting the password, head over to Mr. Walter's website  and click on the G Suite Password reset page. There will be a few questions to confirm who you are, then Mr. Walter will email the new password within 24 hours. Reset G Suite Password

A special thank to Ms. Lucas, Ms. Harrington and Ms. Murphy, who packing up all the breakfast program food and brought it to the Gathering Place . They have started a grab and go breakfast program so the donation could not have come at a better time. Donations are down at the centre and the staff were very appreciative. MQP had received a lot of donations during our Breakfast Blitz recently and it is nice to know that the food is being put to good use by the most vulnerable in our community. Based on the most recent COVID-19 update from the Provincial Government and the province's Chief Medical Officer of Health, NLESD is further limiting access to school facilities  effective immediately . This directive means that there will be no public access to schools whatsoever including any prearranged pickup of personal student items.  Therefore, the retrieval of student personal belongings scheduled for Monday, March 23rd at MQP is now cancelled.  All belongings will be stored at the school until further notice. Should there be any change, you will be notified immediately. We hope you are doing well during this difficult time. We just want you to know that we are thinking of you and we miss our students very much. Thank you for your cooperation, support and patience as we work through various protocols during this unprecedented time. Please know that our staff is here for you should you require assistance. In the meantime, we will be providing opportunities for you to retrieve your child’s personal belongings. All student personal items will be placed in individual bags labelled with the child’s name. Please note that our staff will make every effort to ensure that all bagging of items is done properly. Pick up will be held in our School gym on Monday, March 23. In order to accommodate social distancing we are requesting that only one adult member per family come to the school for pick up and we will only allow 50 people into the gym at a given time. Effective today, Friday, March 13, the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District (NLESD) has suspended all extra-curricular activities involving interaction between different school populations until further notice. This includes regional and provincial sports tournaments, heritage fairs, science fairs, drama festivals, or any activity that sees multiple school populations gathered for showcase events or competition. This is an unfortunate measure but a prudent step the District is taking in an effort to contain the potential community spread of the COVID-19 virus. Have you ever wondered what goes on inside Memorial’s Engineering Building?  Check out the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science’s  Annual Open House this Saturday, March 14th  from 10am – 2pm in the S. J. Carew (Engineering) Building to find out!  This event is free and open to all members of the public.  Free parking will be available in lots 7 and 7A.

A reminder that there will be no school on Friday due to a professional learning day for teachers. Also, there is no school on Monday for anyone due to the St. Patrick's Day holiday. School will resume on Tuesday, March 17th, which will be Day 6.

This Thursday is another Ice Cream Day! $1 will get students a delicious fudge stick at recess time. If possible, training for removal of copious amounts of chocolate from facial areas should commence at home during the next few days.

The Lion King JR. A message from Ms. Marshall: We are looking for the following things to be donated  as soon as possible  in order to help with the costumes for this production.  -Patterned or plain palazzo pants -Animal print and tribal print fabric and clothing of all sorts, including  bedsheets , blankets, scarves, tablecloths, placemats, etc. -Wooden placemats, any bamboo or wooden pieces, etc. -We will need lumber and paint for this show and we are hoping that someone in our school community can offer us a discounted price as this is one of our major expenses. -Beads, jewelry, anything tribal looking, etc. We will be holding a fundraiser during the March 26 th  Parent Teacher Meetings. As a fundraiser for our Grade 6 musical, The Lion King , we are delighted to announce that there will be a pizza lunch for our students and staff!   The pizza lunch will be happening on two separate days. Students in Grades K, 1, 2 and 3 French Immersion can order pizza at a cost of $2.00 per slice on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.   Students in Grades 3 English and Grades 4, 5 and 6 can order pizza at a cost of $2.00 per slice on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. Please note: Just to clarify, Grade 3 French Immersion will have their pizza lunch on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 while the English Grade 3 classes will have their pizza lunch on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 as these students are on the same lunch break as the Elementary students. Students can choose cheese pizza or cheese & pepperoni pizza or a combination of both.  They will need to bring their own recess snack and beverage. A maximum of three slices per child can be ordered. All orders are due by Monday morning

Our Breakfast Program is going really well and it operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Thank you to Ms. Harrington and to our many parent volunteers for making this a huge success. We are delighted to announce that we will be having another Breakfast Blitz on Thurs- day, March 5th! All items must be peanut/all nut free and the following is a list of items we use: Cheerios Granola Bars yogurt tubes cheese strings Monetary donations or donations of gift cards from Costco, Dominion, Sobeys, or Coleman’s will graciously be accepted. There will be volunteers in the Kiss and Ride Lane and the office entrance on the morning of Thursday, March 5th to accept the donations. Every child who brings in a donation will receive a way to go ticket to be entered in the draw on Friday, March 6th. Thank you for your support!
